Sheps

Sheps is an up-and-coming DJ and producer of Drum and Bass from the central Southampton area. He takes pride in being an underground artist who fine-tuned his DJing skills throughout the lockdown in his garage with his mates. His eclectic music taste can be heard in his music and DJ sets. From ska and reggae all the way to anti-establishment punk rock like the Sex Pistols, there’s influence everywhere. The song on the record is a testament to that. His views on a certain set of UK politicians and their interesting political decisions come under scrutiny in this dark angry dnb track.

CHUMOCRACY (Radio Edit)

The same old story of greed and gain
Nothing changes, it all stays the same
Transparency and equal chances?
Don’t kid yourselves, there’s no advances
Eton, Oxford, Bullingdon Club
Cummings and goings but where’s the rub?
Ignore the people, break the rules
They don’t care about peasant fools

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

No one dares do nowt at all,
The poor are those against the wall,
The tabloid press’s on their side
Behind the headlinesthey can hide
Peerage?Knighthood? housing contract?
All you need’s an inside contact
Cash for questions, silver spoon
They take it all and shoot the moon

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

PPE, what does it mean?
PPE helps THEM stay clean
Pounds and Profit Every time
Pounds and Profit, Easy, mine!
Private transport, private wealth
They’ll take your money using stealth
Billions from their money tree
But not one penny you’ll ever see

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

The flat’s not sharp, all pastel shades
Not John Lewis the colours fade
Eight hundred quid for a roll of paper
From some trendy designer, mover, shaper,
But let’s not worry about the price
‘Cos paying for anything’s just not nice
Getting cash from rich men’s coffers?
Another knighthood’s, an easy offer

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

Sign a treaty, but where’s the trust?
Then walk away, what’s left’s disgust
Avoid the questions, spread the fudge
Just don’t answer and never budge
Scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours
A common pledge behind closed doors
The price to pay’s a twelve grand lunch
For you to join the ruling bunch

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

No one’s guilty, no one’s caught
Evade the law, a rich man’s sport
Text your mates, ask for a chat
Just keep it private, avoid a spat
With standards in our public life
Chopped right down with a blunted knife
Delay the answers hide the truth
The ones to pay will be our youth

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

It’s green list one day, then red the next,
But you’ll only know if you get a text,
Deadline dates may give you hope
But believing them makes you a dope
It’s not about science, only cash,
So thousands more can make the dash
Nasty variant, let’s call it delta,
Hide the blame behind The WHO’s shelter

Chumocracy, chumocracy
A Covid word for hypocrisy?
Chumocracy, chumocracy
The ruling class fill their pockets for free

And what about another wave?
The one that leads to another grave
Ignore the science, ignore the trends
Hold the line till the dying ends
Impervious to any leak
The masters of the Doublespeak
So never worry and never quit
The bigger the lie the more the people will believe it
